Tile Finish
Tiles are hard wearing and are made from materials such as ceramics or different kinds of stone.
Tiles are mostly found in bathrooms and kitchens. However, tiles are great in taking in heat from the sunlight and reflecting it back into the surrounding air. This should be considered, as well placed tiles around the window areas could effectively take in sunlight and heat, then reflecting heat back into the room.
So, what are the pros and cons of using tiles for floors or walls?
Tiles are very easy to maintain and can just be wiped down. As a hard surface there is a potential of an echo in a room that is completely tiled. Shapes and colours can be mixed to create unique works of art and an opportunity to express yourself.

Stone tiles
Stone tiles are made out of stone. There are very beautiful options available using granite or marble. Both age very gracefully and look beautiful, hundreds of years from now. Other version include tiles made of baked clay or stone.

Ceramic tiles are made out of a mixture of ceramic and clay. Similar to stone tiles they are beautiful and hardwearing. However the beauty in ceramic tiles comes from a coloured coat, not the natural material.
Advantages of tile walls:

Tiles are fantastic in wet areas and can easily be cleaned

Tiles are very hard wearing, requiring very little maintenance (only maintenance is to keep mould and dirt out of the silicon layer between the tiles)

Tiles are water resistant

Tile floors are very good with underfloor heating as they let the vast majority of air pass through into the room

Disadvantages of tile walls:

Tiles are cold if not in sun light or heated

Tiles are heavy

Tiles are slippery when little water comes on it and hard to fall on

Tiles are loud when walked upon with shoes
